Pet stores sell an enzyme that digests the urine. It can be used on vomit too. Natures Miracle is one brand. It is used in kennels and other places where organic oder is a problem.

Do NOT use anything with ammonia, because urine is mostly ammonia. Go to a discount store and get the spray for urine odor removal in the pet supply department.
If you are SURE that the urine has NOT penetrated the mattress, a generous application of the spray and a good airing (until it is totally dry), should remove the odor. If urine has penetrated the mattress pad, you would have to discard it.
You deserve a MAJOR applause for caring for your Aunt. God Bless You and Good Luck....

My brother wet the bed for years....YEARS. The best thing to do if you dont want to or cant afford to buy a new mattress is to stick it out in the sun. ALL DAY LONG. The sun will kill the smell to almost not noticable. After you do this, go to a store and get a vinyl/plastic mattress cover and put it on the bed. NEXT time whomever pees the bed if they are old enough to (and 8 is old enough) make them wash the sheets. Dont embarrass the kid if they are older or get on to them as this will just make things worse.

My son had a suggestion when I posed the question to him. He said, "Tell her to take a crap on it. You won't smell the pee anymore!".
I suggest the you buy a bottle of the stuff they use for dogs and cats that mess in the house. It has enzymes in it that break down the whatever is causing the smell. I'd treat it a few times with it and let it dry good in between treatments. Finally if you do get the smell out, Spritz it good with Febreeze for Upholstery when you are done and let that dry good as well. Cleaning out the entire room and shampooing the carpet would also help with any lingering smells that are still in the room. Good luck and get lots of help from other friends and relatives, they can help too. Many hands make for light work.

first of all get a bar of soap ,wet it and rub it in the mattress, then use clean clothes to wipe it and rince it all off ,leave it to dry then when dry cover it in baking powder, leave it about two hours ,longer if you can ,hoover this off,as this draws bad smells up from inside the mattress,it should now be smelling loverly ,,if any odor is still left place tumble dryer sheets on it and the make the bed with them still on ,the heat a persons body makes will atract the smells into the sheets as heat causes smells to rise,it should then be like new ,merry christmas

Pandan Leaves - I am not sure whether you could get it in your country, but what you cold do is to grind it into power form or chop it up into small pieces, place it on the bed, covered with bedsheet.
Leave the leaves there for at least 2 days and throw it away. The leave will absorb the smell and should go away after 2-3 application.

Bleach will take out the odor. I would spray it on diluted and let it dry. Do it a few more times, as needed. The smell will go away. It is all you need. You can also disinfect the mattress by leaving it in the sun for a while. The UV light will disinfect it. - I learned this as a previous hotel owner.

have a carpet company come clean the mattress and it will be as good as before. I had that done as that happened with my dad and the carpet company was very good about it. You can also buy some big pads for her bed and lay them on her bed.
I also put a second mattress pad on his bed so that might help you also.

Sponge it with a little soapy water or with Oxy Clean in warm water with baking soda in it, then spray thoroughly with Fabreeze. Dry totally before remaking.
If someone can help put it out in the sunshine for a day. Although I don't know where you are.
It would do wonders.
Been there before.
