I also find it kind of rude how Christmas gets shoved down the throats of everyone else who wants to go out in public..
What about the Jewish people?? or Jehovas Witnesses???
I say if you're gonna put a Santa Claus in your shop window, there oughta be a menora and a lighthouse there with it...

I'm sure I probably mis-spelled menora as well. I apologize.

I know Santa isn't real. What I'm getting at is that only Christmas seems to be widely recognized and even then people are too chicken to recognize the religious aspect of it. Christians aren't the only ones who live in this country and other religions dont' "choose" to shop places because they HAVE TO shop as well. They can't just not eat or use toilet paper or anything else because it's Christmas time and if they leave their homes OUR holiday is gonna be shoved down their throats. Majority rules? They can just "deal with it"? That's not a very Christian thing to say, now is it?

First of all santa claus is not real.Jewish and others religions dont really dont know what Christ is. They also have different gods. Everyone in the world celebrates Christmas in a different way, and u should be really pround that u r a Christan because only christans get eternal life!! My dad is a pastor so I know this stuff. I am a Christan too!!!!!!!! Oh, Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't the shop's window get rather cluttered? Okay, I'll stop being facetious.
Take heart: Christmas isn't being shoved down throats. It's the commercial aspect that's shoved into our eyes and ears from November 1 through December 24 or so.
Whether you're Christian or not, hearing the warm wishes of a hearty "Merry Christmas!" really isn't intending to leave anyone out or shove beliefs down throats, IMHO. Would you be hurt if someone wished you a warm "Happy Hanukkah!"? Bet not!
Whatever gets celebrated, it's just nice to know that the warm, myriad traditions of those who came before us are being preserved for those who come after us. 'Sides, Jesus humbly celebrated Hanukkah. Imagine His shock and modest embarrassment at having a non-Jewish holiday named after Him!
I'll pass this one more thought along, FWIW. Whenever I want to tell someone to have a happy holiday season, I try to cover the four most common bases: Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, and the Winter Solstice with, "Happy Hanukwanzmastice!" I'm always met with a chuckle and a kind response!
Cheers!

Too bad Santa Clause is fake and wasn't even brought up or made bythe Christian faith, it was made up by coca-cola. Other people will just have to deal with it. The majority of the word is Christian and that's why they do what they do just like when you vote...the majority wins. Sorry. It's not the Christians fault that we believe in Christ and that he is our Savior maybe the Jewish people and Jehovah Witness' should realize that. The Question is not "how do you think non-christians feel?" It's How do you think Jesus Christ feels?! HUH?! They are also not forced to look at anything. They choose to shop and they know that there is going to be Christmas stuff everywhere.

You can thank the commercialization of Chrstmas for that.
The stores, the charity Santas on every corner, even the city puts up decorations (not religious).
And of couse, the depression and the feeling of failure because another year has past and you are not a gazillionaire.
However, I can't see where others should be offended. I would not be offended if a Jewish person wished me a happy Hannauch (I KNOW I misspelled that). I would take it in the sprit it was given, and return the greeting. He was wishing me well in his way, just as a Merry Christmas is wishing a person well.
Anyway, Merry Christmas. . .

Ok. First you are putting Santa Claus on the same ground as a menorah and lighthouse. Santa is a secular figure, not religious. Are you complaining about all the Christian references to Christmas (mangers, Christmas hymns . . . ) or the secular references (Santas, reindeer, snowmen . . . )? There is a big difference between the two.

Nobody, is shoving anything down any-ones throat, its just their way of wishing everyone who see's happy holidays in their Owen religion.. it sounds to me you would rather ppl to pop the finger instead of thoughtfulness of peace and joy, celebrate your holidays the way you wish and we will do the same.. We are all free to believe in what ever, So please look at it like someone out there took the time and money to put nice decorations and lights for you to enjoy, if you choose not to look that's fine but let others enjoy it because some do!!!

I feel you; I am a Christian too-and I too feel they really are taking it too far. It's a cultural version of the ugly American; colonizers, wrapping their tainted, flea-covered blankets all over who might not necessarily need them or offending those who might be offended by how hard they are trying to push their blanket/religion.
The Bible says let people be convinced by their own minds, not shove it down their throats until they can't stand the sound of any Christmas songs.
I feel ya, but we can just keep being balanced and calm - the holiday hysteria and inconsideration will go away, and we'll still be balanced and nornal, while the zealots will be having their after Christmas sales, credit card tremors, and meltdowns.
:^) hang tight - God, and his angels are watching
Breathe, it will pass.

It is a holiday true not everyone celebrates what we do. There is the shop keepers choice to consider.
If it is Walmart or Target...they don't care about the Christmas meaning as all they care about is the cash.
To each their own I say. I have no problem w/any others beliefs and if putting the symbol of their faith brings us closer I am all for it.

i agree but sometimes showing Christmas decorations that are colorful and pretty allows people to come into the store so you could say they do it for bissness. Also maybe most of the people that come into the stores celebrate christmas and they get few jewish people or Jehovas Witnesses. Then again it's just a theory

It's sad to say but Christmas has become just another holiday for the stores to make money. I've noticed that some stores here in Boston have but up menoras (sp?) which I think is great. I'm also Crhistian but believe as you do that all of this Christmas stuff is very rude to people who don't believe in it!
