Usually when the mouse "hangs" like that for several seconds, it means the computer is doing so many things in the background it can not get time to update the cursor location. (Can also make it disappear).

Check to see how much free space you have on your hard drive. If it is below 10% free, you need to free up more space. Windows needs it to run properly.

Then click on "start" and select "run" and type in: msconfig
Click on the Startup tab of the window that appears
You will see a check list of all the "things" being loaded in the background when the computer boots. Uncheck any that you can live within (usually everything). You can recheck things if you decide you want them. You can harm your computer by unchecking things here.

Finally, consider purchase additional memory for the computer. The more memory, the more it can run at a time without running out of memory and hanging up.

Well the problem isn't your monitor, that's for sure, no idea why it's in that category. Answer sounds simple to me: get a new computer for Christmas - your computer is too slow.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
