It was a beautiful adaptation of an Annie Proulx short story. Do you think there was some other reason it was produced? I'd be interested in hearing that!

Good literature is sometimes filmed well, and this is a good case of that somewhat rare phenomenon!

"If you really want to see a movie about gay loves try "Boys in the Band" or "Dog Day Afternoon" (with Al Pacino as the lead.)"

oh, please.
Those are movies from another time - full of self-loathing gay men and hateful stereotypes. Even the playwright has said that his play, "The Boys in the Band" is outdated and no longer relevant.
There are LOTS of gay movies out there...many of them good, many of them bad - just like ALL movies.

"someone out there is trying once again to promote the "gay" lifestyle "

did you even SEE this movie?
The choice the film gives is gettiing beaten to death with a tire iron or being alone for the rest of your life.
Exactly WHAT is that PROMOTING???? MISERY?
GEEEEESH.
Stop reading the knee-jerk hysterical reactions of others who haven't seen the film, and either see it before commenting or just don't comment on it. To say that this film PROMOTES a gay lifestyle is absolutely stupid.

"Read the bible...homosexuality has been around since way back then...God calls it an abomination...then and now."

The Bible also is a big fan of slavery, incest and keeping women subservient.
Think we should continue those traditions as well?

Well I saw it and enjoyed it, I loved the mountain scenery, I thought the acting was good, the story line was good, though painful to watch the end, I am not sure what you mean by the point, but I simply enjoyed this film and I am not usually a movie goer, but this was well worth my money. :)

I was a love story. A love story that couldn't because of social pressures be fulfilled.

New entertainment in the main stream. Cashing in on a fad. Sh*t like that. It was a pretty good movie, but the thing is, the idea of two gay lover's struggle with society and all that has been tired out by the independent films.

That men that wear funny hats, high-heeled pointy shoes, and ride "bare-back" are really gay?

Actually the entire movie was filled with homo-erotic puns and slang, starting with the title. "Brokeback Mountain" is a homo-erotic phrase that means anal sex. Next is the names of the main characters, Jack and Enis (a pun, think jackin' penis.)

The list goes on from start to end. The entire movie was just a way to promote a homosexual agenda.

For the record I am not homophobic. It is knowing a few gay men that let me in on the puns that the movie (and book) used.

If you really want to see a movie about gay loves try "Boys in the Band" or "Dog Day Afternoon" (with Al Pacino as the lead.)
