why is it that people always say be honest and when you do they slap it back in your face and say you are rude espeically friends! i dont get it does anyone else?

Just be honest with yourself, your immediate family and the closest of friends. Outside of that, just behave as though you are being honest and tell people what they want to hear. It's called having social skills. Remember it's better to lie than to be rude. If you lie, folks will forget about it. If you're rude, folks could hold a lifetime grudge. In other words, to tell the truth is rude. I know it sounds crazy, but that's life.

Honesty must always be tempered by TACT. Face to face, is totally different to board postings, where abruptness is sometimes necessary, and used as a tactic to persuade. Honesty is still the best policy, but engage BRAIN before opening MOUTH !

Theirs being honest and their is being tactful.
my advice put the two together!
For example when a women Say's do i look fat in this and you don't want to say yes as a-lot of daft men have done in the past say. I'll tell you what you say "yeah that looks nice but this would look better" Hence diverting her attention to the slinky little number!, That doesn't make her look as us tactful men like to say "BIG" not fat unless you looking for a slap!.

Honesty is best when combined with tact. You can say, "GEEZ That dress is ugly! " or you can say, "Wow , I really think you looked better in the last one you tried on." You can be honest without being rude.

It's only women that throw it back in your face. If a man asks for your honest opinion, and you give it him, he just takes it. Women need to be complimented because they're weak that way. It's not their fault, they just can't help it. I feel sorry for them actually.

People hate the truth especially if it involves them, as long as you keep to their rules then your in.
