Adina's right, but don't break the invisible chain of command without undeniable proof of abuse.
Start making a list of grievances, no matter how small, then come back to yahoo answers to figure out how to make them legally actionable.
For examp,le you are both white and he says something negative about hispanics with in earshot of a hispanic person. The two of you can back each other up, and ship his butt to the nearest unemployement line.
Bottom line, you can't be miserable at work. It could make you physically ill to have to show up somewhere everyday where you feel pissed on.
And oh my god the stress.
Yeah definitely start asking others if he has abused them as well, make it a team effort to exorcise the demon.

Pattijo has a point about letting crap like that happen. You should have said something the first or second time he did it.

You cannot control anyone else's behavior except by changing your own. Pattijo is correct that you may be allowing this behavior by how you respond; however, bad bullies will continue to behave badly regardless of what you do.

If you can change your reaction you may be able to modify his/her behavior. Ask yourself what you fear about the situation. Perhaps that you'll be fired? Or you'll get fed up and tell the boss off? Or if you're really honest with yourself maybe the boss reminds you of a parent or bully from your childhood and intimidates you. People bully others to hide their own fears.

You'd be better off speaking to the boss directly than going over his/her head. Bullies get even - if not overtly, then passive- aggressively. Most bullies I've talked to about their behavior will not admit there is a problem so they are unlikely to change just because you bring it up.

If the situation continues to make you unhappy, make up your mind to have a new boss either there or elsewhere. Better yet, work for yourself instead. No J.O.B. (Just Over Broke) - No Bullying Bosses.

Bullying you mean he/she makes you work...this is your job right.
Stopping a boss bullying maybe if we look at this through the eyes of your boss....it would no longer be called bullying...

Otherwise you really need to give more information. Answering this question in depth is rather ignorance I feel on my part....Mr. being a boss ....

i wish a were a real Rambo to answer and to follow up on the answer...bosses that keep bullying are not worth their place in the organization, less so in the human spirit. I did not stop "mine" (hate to say that, i.e. the boss) and he continued his trend..until I left the company -- with lots of damages on the way...I am not sure if he were conscious yes or no...whatever the case it scared me for life. back to your question -- stop him/her you should -- if you go above the boss's status...if the management is lenient you might make some head way otherwise...the only way to stop him/her is to seek another position and pray a lot. I wish you good luck..because it is a delicate and difficult position.

I finally had the Nerve to ask,my Boss ' Why do you keep,acting like that - His response : Because I Can - At first - I figured he meant because - o.k. he's the boss -- Then I took another look at his response to me - and, learned he meant - Because I let him Bully me ! and, I learned a Big lesson about myself that day !! -- That was a really good question !! --- Pattijo

Threaten your boss with a class action harassment lawsuit. Everyone is entitled to a safe and harassment free work environment. Just a threat of a lawsuit worked for me.

Simple use the system talk to him very professional like tell him straight up I am feeling harassed by your actions and comments please stop or I will Fill out a harassment form with human resource's thanks and good day! if you get fired then sue or claim for unemployment.

Disarm him,when he's mean,be nice,when he calls you a lazy ******* for not doing your job.Be nice,say I was born that way,but I'm working on changing that.
