How about you make a list of what he likes, for example does he follow football? Get him a jersey of his favorite team and tickets to see the game, or suprise him with his favorite jersey with you in it!.....You could alway make up a gift basket for him with his favorite teams stuff and food and gift vouchers that you have made for him...for stuff like a massage or mow the lawn whatever.....
Really Romanitc and not sure if you guy is like this is write him a letter telling him how much he means to you and what you love about him, the small things he does that you don't thank him for everyday, the way he smiles, or the way he laughs or how he is with the kids (if you have kids) Just let him know how special he is to you and how special he is as a person. Good Luck with it !
You could also try a special treasure hunt in visiting all the place that you went to when you dated, or for things that bring back memories to you...and end up at a nice motel for the evening.
Decorate the house while he is at work with lots of love hearts and balloons, make heart shaped cookies and make sure he knows how much you love him.

massage gift certificate. he'll act like he doesn't like it but after her goes he'll love it. in fact, get two and get a couples massage at a nice resort. great day for all.
Or surprise him with a weekend trip away where it's a complete surprise. Men would never ask for that but would dig it just the same.

Favor Coupons - can be anything from hand washing his car to anything naughty!
Give him 12 dozen of his favorite cookies...bake little fire proof sticks or straws into them and then wrap them up like flowers.
Ask him what he'd like...this early he'll forget he even told you...
