I bought a different second-hand engine and had it fitted in. I am satisfied with the performance, but I have noticed that the acceleration seems to have a slight problem. At times when I press the accelerator down for higher speed, the engine doesn't pull at all. I also noticed that when this is happening and I rather let the accelerator out more (as if I was decreasing speed), it gets to a point where the speed suddenly picks up again. I suppose something needs adjustment. Could someone familiar with Peugeot 405 (transmission) help me out?

I would look to see if the accelerator pump was working in the carburettor or fit the carb off your old engine and while you are at it it wouldn't hurt to check the ignition timing.

The French suck and so do their cars. Buy a Toyota. You'll always be happy.
