If you're an American, law is probably not the place for you - not unless you're a shoe-in to a top-tier school. There's an excess of new lawyers in the States, and lots of them graduate to find that there's no job for them.

In Canada, it's also getting difficult to find a job in law. Doctors don't make that much money in Canada, either.

In fact, I doubt any of those jobs will make you "rich." They'll give you a comfortable living, but if you want to be rolling in money, either find a rich spouse to sponge off (a la Federline), win the lottery, or work exceptionally hard and get lucky at basically any career.

I know this probably wasn't the answer you're looking for, but I'm going to give it to you anyways. :)

Becoming rich is not about the profession, but how you handle your money. You can be an underwater basket weaver and make a ton of money if you learn to invest properly or do something with your money to make more money.

Look at the people that win millions in the lottery and end up in worse debt than when they won big. Why? Because they can't manage their money.

On the other hand, look at the people that dropped out of college and became millionaires/billionaires. Dell, Gates, etc.

SO, the ultimate answer is, find a career that you enjoy, and educate yourself on how to manage the money you make.

Lawyers, doctors, and engineering are all lucrative careers with the potential to earn millions. Well, maybe more hundreds of thousands with the engineer, but lawyers and doctors are some of the richest people around, at least in my city and state. Especially if they are multi-lingual or are really good at their specialty (medicine, law). Some lawyers and doctors retire in their 40's. At least I know some that have. They are like, I have worked hard all my life, and i want to retire and enjoy the money i have earned and enjoy the rest of my life! Must be sweet!

If you are a very good lawyer you can get rich if you choose to focus on certain types of law and certain types of clients.

If you are exceptional in the others and are very, very lucky you might get rich.

obtainable yet no longer likely, based on the way you define "wealthy." If all you care approximately is getting wealthy, then seem to employer. You get wealthy via having human beings artwork for you and paying them below what they herald. So, the vendors of the regulation corporation make money via paying legal professionals below what those legal professionals soak up. The criminal professional working for the corporation makes a sturdy earnings yet won't ever be wealthy via maximum definitions.
