I've been seperated from my husband for the past three Christmases. We have a 9 year old son and since we split I have spent Christmas Eve at my ex husbands with my son so that he has us both there on Christmas morning. I wake up with my son so we are together on Christmas morning and go straight to the present opening. This year my son asked me to do the same thing.

I have been in a relationship with someone else since I left my husband. He lives in Iowa and I live in Scotland, we cant be together for Christmas this year again but he doesnt want me to stay with my son because obviously it means spending time in the company of my ex also.

Whatever I decide to do I either disappoint my son or my boyfriend. I've been fighting with my b/f over this today because I decided to stay with my son for Christmas. I love both of them very much.

What would you do or suggest to remedy this?

Karma.

You did the right thing.
You're boyfriend has no right to put you in such a tight corner and make you choose. He should have KNOWN your priorities would lie with your son.
He was trying to emotionally blackmail you. So well done for standing up to him.
I would be wary of a man like this in the future.
Such behaviour smacks of selfishness.

I think that staying with your son was the best decision. he needs you more than your boyfriend. Always put your son ahead of your boyfriend
