if the packers win miraculously in chicago, how could they make the playoffs, keeping in mind that the giants and falcons both lost and are now at 7-8, tied w/ the packers. St. Louis is also 7-8 and beat the Packers earlier in the season, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't matter b/c there's three teams tied. I'm trying to make sense of the tiebreaking procedures listed here:
http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/6823575
Could someone please try to figure these out? I will give the best answer to whoever has a detailed and correct answer that points out why and references the specific tiebreaking procedures. This one's a real tough one because the NFC is so bad that the tiebreakers are going down to the 6th and 7th rules. Thanks for the help.

The Packers easiest way to get into the playoffs is by beating Chicago, the Giants losing to Washington, and either a Rams lose, Carolina win, or Atlanta win.
Green Bay owns the tie-breaker over every team except the Giants and Rams.
But, if the Packers and Rams are the only 8-8 teams, the Packers lose the tie-breaker due to their head-to-head loss. However, if there is a 3 way tie with Green Bay, St. Louis, and anyone but the Giants, the Packers would get in due to their conference record.
It is mathematically possible for the Packers to still get in even if the Giants win. It would come down to strength of victory, the Packers would need a lot of teams that they have beaten to win. Honestly, it is an extreme long-shot. Still, though, it's possible.

Go to this link. If the "Packers" win this weekend againts Bears. We need giants to lose. We will have better conf. rec againts (7-5) atlanta and panthers even if they win last games. Main thing is we need to root for the Redskins to beat the Giants and Vikes to beat the rams. If we lose to the bears and we can still get in with alots of upset games in week 17. Det beating dallas, Maimi beating Jets.

All of the teams that we needed to win, won, and all of the teams that we needed to lose, lost. There is only one exception. The Rams. They won, when they needed to lose. So, this means that next weekend, the Rams have to lose to the Vikings and the Packers have to beat the Bears (obviously).

Regardless GB has a statistical chance or not, they don't deserve playoff based on their performance and we don't deserve the punishment seeing them in the playoffs also.
