Is Clayre too strange? Since Claire is most common, with either of the two names I want we will have to correct people on the spelling anyways.

I love unusual spellings of names...makes their name more unique to them. I would go with Clayre.

Clare, Clayre or Claire; they are all the same name. Changing the spelling wont make you seem more unique or original, it just makes you seem like you don't know how to spell.

I'd go with the spelling Claire, just too save the kid a lifetime of annoyance and frustration of correcting people.

I am Claire also, but even at 29 I still get Clair or Clare. Which ever way you spell it it will rarely get spelt right. At least if you went with one of them it would get pronounced right. Clayre would not be said as Claire, as it is not the traditional spelling therefore people would mis pronounce it. Pretty cool way to spell it though, but to be safe I'd go one that can not be said wrong. Good luck!! (and great choice of name!)

I love Claire, but Clare is also very good. People will definitely mispell Clayre, plus it's not (no offense) extremely appealing to the eye.

I like Clayre as opposed to the old way of Claire; that is going by the rule of sometimes "y" replaces "i". I believe people will catch on.

Well personally I like the common way its spelled Claire. But if I had to choose between the two you suggested I say Clare, to me it just looks. . . .cuter. But the other way (Clayre) is eclectic if you will, eccentric even; which can be great. I choose Clare that's my opinion.
