It is about the birth of the Son of God. It is ultimately about Jesus being willing to come to us, live the sinless life that God demands, and yet still take the consequences that we deserve for our sinful choices.
In other words, God sent His own son to die for us, in our place, to take our punishment upon Himself,
So that if we put our faith in His actions and purity, we can ask God's forgiveness of our sins (which separate us from Him), and enter into a relationship with God right here, right now.
This enables us to grow into the reflection of our Creator as we were intended to be.
That means a trust and faithfulness to what He has revealed to us in His Word (Bible), which brings about peace, strength, compassion, integrity, contentment, and being a blessing to others as we grow into a more Christ-like character.
It also means that we have made our decision for after this life on earth- to be in the presence of God for all eternity. We make that choice while we walk this earth.
I know I did many years ago, and it is the best decision I have ever made,
Yeah, life is rough, none of us gets a free ticket away from hurts, but walking with God makes it all worthwhile.

It is intended to be a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. In the early church, many masses (or celebration) was held throughout the year to celebrate important persons (saints) and events in the Christian church. The two holiest celebrations of the year were the masses celebrated for the birth (Christmas) and resurrection of Jesus.
Since, a lot of other crazy things have been added, like talking snowmen, flying reindeer, menorahs (the Jewish holiday added at the same time as Christmas), etc. And its true meaning is often lost under the greed of gift getting, secular parties, etc.
But the true purpose of the Christ-mass is a celebration of His birth.

Well Christmas is a Cristian holiday it represents the birth of christ ( or shall I say Jesus?) It is also a time to spend with family and friends. Sure the presents may seem the best part of Christmas but they are just like birthday presents but they are not for you unless your B-day is on Christmas. If your Cristian but don't go to church I can see your problem. But don't ask me about those other holidays cause I know nothin about other winter holidays around X-Mas!!!!!!!!

God sent us on Christmas' day his son to help us and save us from sin because he loves us. So Christmas is about love and accepting the others nomatter what they are or did. Christmas is celebrating the birth of jesus christ our savior and thanking him for everything he has done for us.

it is celebrating the day of Jesus' birth. since (most) Christians (including me) believe that Jesus was born so he could save us from our sins, he is considered God's gift for us, which is partly why people give presents at Christmas, but there are also other reasons. hope that answers your question - God bless!

Today it has been made a Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Christ. But December 25th is actually the birth of Tammuz. Who came about after nimrod died and his wife became pregnant and she said that nimrod was the sun god and she became pregnant by the sun's rays( i believe). So Tammuz was supposed to be a god. So really the holiday's origin is sort of pagan, but personally i don't think it is wrong to celebrate it as long as you keep it with Jesus birth and don't mix it with Pagan.
