The Chinese invented the bell some 12 or centuries ago. They were also hollowed out around 1100 to make the 1st mortars & cannons. Although there is some dispute that Korea had it 1st. Korea invented Stirrups. The other answers are mistaken or joking. The Telephone was invented by Antonio Meucci & also by Elisha Grey long before Bell. The latter admitted after he got his dubious patent that he bribed workers there not to give anyone else a patent so he could beat them to it.
