Need to get my own stuff that,has hookups 4 everytihing .So i can stay in touch, more better and often.

It would help to know what your budget is, and what your expectations are.
However, here is some basic information.
If your budget is under $300, then look into a used laptop, either from local sellers, or ebay. if on ebay, read carefully. Do a bit of research on the model you are looking at.
If you can afford $500-800, and want a new laptop, then you can get a semi-decent one at places like Circuit City.
In any case, stay away from Celeron and Sempron Processors.
Make sure you have at least 512 MB of RAM, 1GB is better.
I purchased a new Gateway laptop that has suited my needs nicely, last spring, for $700. 80 MB hard drive, 1GB RaM, AMd turion 64 processor, and all the bells and whistles.
Esp. in the next month, watch for closeouts and sales. Also watch newspaper ads for people who may have gotten one for Christmas and are selling old one. And ... check out freecycle in your area .. I got a free Toshiba Satellite a year ago for my daughter there.
