I'd go. It is good to perform. The more experience, the more character you will have. Even if you do not intend to perform professionally. And if it is called "an honor recital" and you are invited, accept the honor. It really would not be polite to refuse. It would be like refusing to appear to accept an Oscar, say. Thumbs down! Yes you should go. It'd make your mom happy. It's christmas time and christmas is about giving and not thinking of yourself. In other words, it's about thinking about others and you should go just to make your mom happy.

I guess you have to be honest with your mother! tell her that you dont feel like going because of whatever reason it is...
Otherwise if you can't be honest because your mother might kick you or something then tell her your not feeling well. :-D
