Adherents to Islam hold that the wording of the Qur'anic text available today corresponds exactly to that revealed to Muhammad himself: words of God delivered to Muhammad through the Archangel Gabriel.

For the last 23 years of his life, beginning at the age of forty (around 610), Muhammad claimed that he was receiving revelations from God delivered through the angel Gabriel. The content of these revelations, known as the Qur'an, was memorized and recorded by his followers and compiled into a single volume shortly after his death. The Qur'an, along with the details of Muhammad’s life as recounted by his biographers and his contemporaries, forms the basis of Islamic theology. Within Islam, he is considered the last and most important prophet of God (Arabic Allah). Muslims do not regard him as the founder of a new religion but as the restorer of the original monotheistic faith of Adam, Abraham and other prophets whose messages had become misinterpreted or corrupted over time.

Two ways of saying the same thing - the word of God. Since Gabriel's consciousness is totally united with God's, the question is of only academic interest.

what yasmine said. and you see, I seriously dont understand why non-Muslims keep slandering that Islam is intolerant while there exists people like roy and SAAAAA in other religions. O God, pls protect all those who worship You and only You, The Creator, The Sustainer, God of Adam, God of Noah, God of Abraham, God of Jesus, God of Moses, God of Muhammad (peace be upon the prophets), the one and only God worthy of worship. May you sceptical judgmental people out there find God, because seriously, do you think God would care to find you if you keep on passing stereotypical judgments on others? God bless!

The Qur'ān [1] (Arabic: القرآن ‎ al-qurʾān, literally "the recitation"; also called al-qurʾān al-karÄ«m "The Noble Qur'an"; also transliterated as Quran, Koran, and Al-Quran), is the central religious text of Islam. Muslims believe the Qur'an, in its original Arabic, to be the literal word of God that was revealed to Muhammad over a period of twenty-three years until his death, and believe it to be God's final revelation to humanity[2]. Muslims believe that the Qur'ān is God's (Allah) final revelation to humanity which started with Suhuf-i-Ibrahim (Scrolls of Abraham/Ibrahim), the Tawrat (Torah), the Zabur (Psalms), and the Injil (Gospel). The aforementioned books are recognized in the Qur'an[3][4], but directs Muslims to follow the Qur'ān--the last and final message, being completely untainted with God promising to protect it: "Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)".[5]

The Qur'anic verses were originally memorized by Muhammad's companions as Muhammad recited them, with some being written down by one or more companions on whatever was at hand, from stones to pieces of bark. The collection of the Qur'an compilation took place under the Caliph Abu Bakr, this task being led by Zayd ibn Thabit Al-Ansari. "The manuscript on which the Quran was collected, remained with Abu Bakr till Allah took him unto Him, and then with 'Umar till Allah took him unto Him, and finally it remained with Hafsa bint Umar (Umar's daughter)."
