Who here agrees that Garden is getting a little too worked up? Looks like the majority is overruling you Garden. You say that a baby's temp can only vary by .1 degree? Wow! Maybe you should read a book. So, if my daughter's temp is 98.8, should I take her to see the all knowing doc?
Lady with the twins, just listen to the other responses here. Garden is off.

Most doctors — and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) — agree that a normal body temperature for a healthy baby is between 97 and 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (36 to 38 degrees Celsius). If your baby's rectal temperature is over 100.4 degrees F (38 degrees C), he has a fever.
For a baby less than 3 months old and has a temperature of 100.4 degrees F (38 degrees C) or higher, call the doctor immediately. A baby this young needs to be checked for serious infection or disease.
Hope this helps...

An elevated temperature is not considered a fever until it goes over 100 degrees. If you are taking the babies temperature rectally then you need to subtract a degree at which point they are at 98.5 which is perfectly normal.
ALL BABIES UNDER 2 MONTHS SHOULD NOT RECEIVE ANY MEDICATION WITHOUT DOCTORS ORDERS.
Good luck, I hope that they are OK, it is very hard to figure out all of the mom stuff and even harder with 2!

A baby under the asge of 6 months should not be given ANY medication unless specifically directed by an MD. Depends on rather the temp you are taking is rectal, auxillary..... Where did you take this temp. With your children being so young I would not do aything except take them to see a dr. if that is waht you think needs to be done. They were twins so they could be weaker then a single child. Call your dr or get them seen. 99.5 is not high if done rectal!

For newborns, 100 is pretty high and will require you to go to the doctor. If you get a reading higher than 99.5, you should phone your pediatrician to make sure. They will let you know. As your babies get older, they can tolerate higher temperatures like adults.

I am a nursery nurse. You should take their temps axillary (under the armpit with good skin contact.) Any temp greater than 100.4 or less than 97 F should mean you need to see the doctor. Any other fever you can treat with tylenol drops (this is assuming they are not being overdressed, etc.). Also, you should contact the doctor if they have any trouble breathing due to congestion.

I work in the Nursery at a daycare. If a baby's temp is under 100.4 degrees they can stay at school, If above they have to go home. And if it is above 103 we have to call a doctor. Hope it helps.

It is just a low-grade fever. I wouldn't worry. It could even be where they have been crying. Some children's tylenol at the right dosage would be fine. It is just a normal body's reaction to bacteria and viruses. It means their immune systems are working properly.
