i then read the directions and went online to download the new versoion of the itunes store... but my computer is stupid and it won't download itunes store so i can't figure out how to download music to my i-pod... i just want to get the music from cds that i have, not buy music off the internet... its too expensive to do that!!

Yeah, an ipod is a bit different to other players. You really need to down load itunes ( it includes the store but you don't need use the store bit)
you should be able to download itunes at
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

once you have that on your computer you just open up itunes and then stick in your CD . The CD should appear in the itunes menu on the left. It then asks if you want to import that CD to your music library. The you can either say yes or no and then just drag the tracks you want to your fav play lists.

Then you need to connect your ipod. make sure you select manually update play lists in the preferences for ipod prefences in itunes to choose the play lists you want on your ipod.

Try this help from Apple at

it should clarify most things about adding CDs to your ipod

iTunes. the software should have come with the iPod. install it on th PC. after installing attach the iPod to the PC iTunes will tell you what to do. You will then need to Import (under the file tab top left corner of the iTunes window) Import from My Music to iTunes Or add Folder either should work. after the library gets built sync to iTunes. iPod doesnt work with Windows media Player

If you have a PC, info above. If you have a mac, then it's going to be twice as easy. All you need to do is plug it in.....and it will do it all for you. Otherwise, good luck.
