A real apology includes admission of guilt, acknowledgement of the pain you caused me and a promise to make a change. "sorry" is lame and code for sorry I got caught or sorry you're mad at me or something like that.

Easy cop-out answer to doing something that hurts a loved one. If you were truely sorry you have done it in the first place. For me I prefer to hear, "I made a mistake and I was wrong". That takes accountability for ones actions.
