The original Last Man Standing matches were completed when one person pinned the other person or made them submit and then not get up for a ten count. Modern rules removed the pinfall/submission requirement and left the ten second rule as the means for victory.

The Last Man Standing Match is a hardcore-style match where the only way to win is by knockout. That is, a wrestler will lose the match if they are unable to answer a ten-count after being downed.

You have to be able to get to your feet by the count of ten. No pinfalls no submissions. The idea is that one guy gets the crap beaten out so ad that he is unable to stand up to answer the count. I can't remember the last time I saw one of these matches.

You win when your opponent can't get up after the referee does the 10 second count (a long 10 second might I add).

You could whatever you want but to win one must beat your opponent down enough to make him lay down for a 10 count.
