floppy drive?

i have just rebuilt my pc, now the light on the floppy stays on, i have swapped the ribbon round so the red strip is pointing to the prosessor, why does it stay on. it wont read any discs i put in it.

swap the ribbon cable arround so the red line is pointing the other way

Some floppy cable have two connectors from back when computers had 5 1/4 floppies. One of them is for B drive and one is for A. Only the one for A will work on some computers.

The red line should be next to the power line.
