well 5 seconds ahead is a future.
heh.

if we continue to pollute our planet and cause hundreds of species to become extinct there will be but not for long enough for humans to thrive and find another planet with life that needs a little of what we have and we need a little of what they have. so no, not for long.

I thought we would destroy ourselves within 20 years ... that was 30 years ago.
You'd be suprised how much better the world is than before (in some ways). When Communism was at ist's peak, half the world were aiming neuclear weapons at the other half. If conflict started, whole nations would be targeted.
Now, the danger is from small crazy groups with no nation supporting them openly. Targets are limited to buildings, not leveling 20 city blocks in a second.

The main trick to getting through to the next millenium depends on the human heart. If we can see each other, not as potential enemies, but brothers and sisters with common future and past.

But you are living in the future. I remember when people were saying not to trust anyone over 30, and now I am 60. This must be the future, right--even though I am writing this note about the future in my present tense. Maybe this should be confusing, but it isn't. Sometime you should look up "Burnt Norton" by T.S. Eliot, one of the great poems ever written. It is about this very issue. "Time present and time past are both perhaps present in time future, and time future contained in time past..."

Nope man, we are stuck in a timeless present and the Future is only an illusion that keeps us hoping for someday. That day is NOW

There is always a future...what do you think the next minute, hour, and day are? - Because they definately are not the past or present.

well if your talking about your future, who knows. you could be hit by a car right now. but if you're talking about the future of mankind, then the whole world could be hit by an asteroid then we all die. the future is a minute from now.

Today is yesterdays future.
Today is tomorrows past.
Today is all we can really live in, work with, be happy in.
Be happy, my friend. The future will be there when you wake up, only you will call it today.
But on a less lofty plain:
The future depends on what you do today. On what we ALL do TODAY.
