As a child, my siblings and I were always allowed to open one gift on Christmas eve . . . and, SURPRISE...darned if it was'nt always pajamas. When I had children of my own...I continued this tradition. They are older teens now, one age 20...and they look forward to they new jammies each Christmas eve.

I just think it's great to get new jammies on christmas eve. It just seems to add to the warm fuzzy feeling. My sis even made nice new housecoats for each of her grandkids.

My sibs and I would get the same...lol, it was either a flowery flannel night gown or those footie pajamas that had a zipper that started from your right ankle all the way up to your windpipe and got snagged on itself while you tried to zipper it. But Christmas in the early 70's when I was a kid was awesome. I would love a pair of footies right now...lol

this question really makes me smile because we do this also. last year my hubby was laid off and we could not afford to do it, and i thought we would just stop since my daughter is 22 however she was so upset that we have started it back up this year and I cannot wait until after church to open the pj's. We are so blessed and I am so thankful for this Christmas and this year after last Christmas I do not think I will ever take it for granted again!

we got to open 2 gifts, one per kid and one "family" gift. The indivdual gifts were pj's and the family gift was a board game, puzzle or movie, something for us to do together that night before we went to bed. I loved it! I have jammies and a video for my 4 yr old tonight!

My wife started this and thought it was the most original xmas idea...she was amazed to find out other people do this too. I'm just into it for the pajamas.
