Call animal control. Cats should not be allowed to roam freely, it's not safe. l have dogs that never leave my yard off leash, but every year some idiot lets their cats out and sooner or later they wander into my yard...and they are killed quickly by the dogs. Stupid cats.
People need to keep cats in their own yard or risk the consequences.

A good dog would work. That's if you want one. It does not have to be big one. A Poodle with a full coat will take out a cat easly. But if that's not enough any Terrier would do it too.
The problem really is that cats wounder around at night when you and a dog would be sleeping. So that may not be the answer either.
I guess the only decent way would be to set up a cage and trap it. Then take for a long car ride.

I have had problems with cats in my neighbourhood who are not spayed or neutered. They would spray all around the house and it smelled terrible. Someone suggested placing mothballs around the foundation. It worked fine. The mothballs do need to be replaced once in awhile but not as often as bleach or sprays you get in the pet shop.
I also have a garden and, while I have not tried this yet, I read in some articles that planting sharp leaved plants will deter cats. They do not like to go among the prickly plants.

If you are referring to your flower bed areas, its very simple. Take spent orange or lemon peels and spread them over the bed surface.. Cat's hate the smell of citrus. Or if you have some concentrated citrus air freshener, mix a small batch with water and use a spray bottle to liberally spray over entire bed area.. This has worked well for me in my yard, ridding it of the neighborhood feline hooligans.

Mix evenly lemon scented ammonia and lemon scented dish soap. with water. Works great and it also works well in the summer time for mosquito's you spray all your bushes and trees. Ammonia also helps growth with your lawn.Get a sprayer there are all different kinds to choose from.I use the type of sprayer that you hook up to the end of the hose. I mix mine stronger most of the time it never hurts anything. I do know it keeps dogs of the lawn.
Note: It makes your yard lemon fresh

There are cat repellents .... one I heard of years ago was called "Cats Off! I think they had an indoor and an outdoor version. I'm sure there are things like that.... Can you consult the yellow pages of your local phone directory?

Chickem manure(fetilizer) make some cats go away. It's great for your garden but the odor may make you want to stay away also.

honestly? get a dog. If you can't, ask someone you know to walk his dog in your yard and let him pee around the perimeter. It works usually but sometimes cats can be slick.
