Given that the last two presidential elections were stolen - would you not conclude that it already has. Democracy in this country is the competitive challenge between politicians to see who can call in enough markers and earn enough buy or steal votes, preferentially distort the truth and the electoral process and slander the opponent, the best. And we hold this up to the world as an illuminating example of what the US has to offer. It is barely if ever a debate over principles or platforms beyond slogans. The highest form of political rhetoric is the belittling cheap shot, because they are so intellectually persuasive.
I would argue that it has evolved into something that has only the most superficial resemblance to a REAL democracy

A democracy can only survive if the people of that democracy allow it. If they don't it will evolve into something else other than a democracy.

Leogirl nailed it. And Trey is still upset that the election didn't go his way. There was nothing wrong with the election. During the last election, news organizations where calling races over and declaring winners when there where plenty of time left. Democracy is alive and well, but there are many socialist pukes trying to kill it. When people are forced at Best Buy to NOT say Merry Christmas because they are afraid they will offend someone, but on the 26th, they hold their after X-mas (carefully not saying Christ mind you) sale, people are giving in. MERRY CHRISTMAS. That in mind Pelosi is messing with CSPAN cameras, something that has never been done. The Imams are morons, and yet the left thinks they are freedom warriors. A radical Rabbi got the airport to take down Christmas trees in Seattle, becuase he threated to sue. The fat lady is warming up folks, because the US has become a cowardly nation afraid to hurt feelings. Screw the imams, screw that chick lying about her rape in Duke country, we are losing our nation. STAND UP

Well, I'm not sure, as I am from America, which is a Republic, and was never a democracy. I don't really think democracy can work. It will devolve into a western European type socialist democracy.

I honestly don't know. I think it is already something less than true democracy when lobbyists have more say than voters.

The only way it will be forced to evolve into something else is if the f'ing left wing communist pigs have their way in socializing this nation. from the moronic statements I see on here I see that we have one hell of a battle on our hands. I've never seen so many ignorant lazy people who are willing to just hand it over.
