I know the blah blah blah about if it's your kid he/she will be just perfect and you will always think he/she is beautiful. But scientifically, with older sperm and an older egg, aren't their more chances of defects and symetry being off? If your 23, won't your child be better looking asthetically than if you had them at say... 38?

I had children at 21, 24, 25, 28 and 38. Genes determine what your children will look like. It is true that you have a greater chance of defects with age but this does not include how they look unless they have one of the defects. My children are all very good looking, not just mom talking I have heard this from everyone who has met them. This includes the one born when I was 38. So the answer to your question would be no.

Are you KIDDING me?! What a totally superficial question! If you're thinking of having children, I suggest you wait until you are emotionally mature enough to deal with ANY defect your child might have, because if this is a serious concern of yours, you are NOT ready to be a mother! NOBODY knows for sure how healthy their child will be or what he/she will look like, and true beauty lies within a person's HEART! I was 19 and 22 when I had my daughters and I believe they are just as beautiful today as they were the moment I laid eyes on them! (My oldest even did some modeling. My youngest had the opportunity but wasn't interested.) My friend had her third child when she was 40, and she is a BEAUTIFUL little girl! Regardless; children are PEOPLE - not TROPHIES!

I don't think so. I had my first child when I was 18 and my 6th when I was 37 and they all were beautiful. They all won prizes in baby contests. My brother on the other hand had a baby so ugly that he said it looked like a monkey. I think it has more to do with how the rest of the family looks more than the age of the parents.

That is definitely the DUMBEST question I've ever heard, not just on here, but in my whole 37 years of living where, during the last year I had the cutest baby in the county, especially compared to the three little ones my 20 year-old SIL has!

There may be birth defects with older parents but if everything goes well (God willing) then there is no reason why a child should look(excuse the word) uglier then a child with younger parents

I really don't think that happens. Anyway, why the hell do you care? Will you be judging your child when you have him/her? I mean, you're not going to look at him/her and say, "WHAT AN UGLY BABY!!!", are you? Because if you are, I can truly say YOU ARE A SUPERFICIAL, IMMATURE PERSON WITH A COLD HEART.

PS: Of course, if you aren't a superficial, immature person with a cold heart and are just worried about people teasing your child, sorry about my ranting. I tend to write and not think.

I don't think it has anything to do with that. But I will say that I've noticed that kids born to younger parents tend to be cuter. I would attribute that to younger parents being more fashionable, and therefore wanting to dress their kids and keep their hair more stylishly... just my opinion.

yes, that's true and it's also true that if you have a child at say 23...like yourself, they'll be born with no brains as evidenced by your question.......ps...since sperm is manufactured as needed, when would they be old?????
