I read the books long before the movie came out. And there was so much that was different it was very disappointing, because they skipped so much. It seemed choppy and appeared to move twice as fast as a normal film, not giving viewers long enough to get to know the characters. Brom's death basically meant nothing, as you didn't have long enough to like him. And I did NOT like their take on the Ra'zac at all. They were covered in beetles, like Imhotep from The Mummy. Saphira took a single flight to mature from baby to full-grown dragon. Arya was never revealed to be an elf, though they spat out that she was a princess, which readers did not know until after page 300 of Eldest. And she seemed way too flirty with Eragon, considering she keeps saying she can't be with him in the second book because she's an elf. In the movie, she was awake the entire time after Gil'ead, and could have saved Brom from dying. Well, if they had revealed her ability to use magic (she's an elf, for Pete's sake). My biggest complaint, though, would probably be the costuming. Where on earth is Eragon, a poor farm boy that can't afford meat for dinner, going to get ahold of shiny leather pants? And Arya in the book wouldn't dream of wearing that leather dress she wore in the film, because elves don't even eat meat. Queen Islanzadi only wore swan feathers they collected over the years that had fallen from the birds. And also, Eragon delivered a line to Saphira when she got injured that basically said, "Whatever strength I have, take it." Don't do that! Taking his strength would kill him, and a dragon can't live without its Rider! So the purpose of that statement was taken away. But despite this huge paragraph of complaints, the basic story was still the same, though people who have read the series are going to feel completely gypped.

The movie should be re-done so that it actually matches the facts in the book...it would be an ok movie if it wasn't based on the book.
They made Eragon and Aria blonde (gag), killed Brom off before he was supposed to die and in a way he did not, didn't put Aria in a coma, and pretty much screwed up a lot of things...in the beginning they even put Saferia on miracle grow stuff or something. The only thing they really got right, was the egg hatching and putting a mark on his hand...and they didn't even wait a little while before it hatched. They made Eragon and his cousin 17, and sent his cousin away really early in the movie. They killed off the uncle really soon too, and just burned down the house instead of having Eragon drag him to the village. My advice to you is not to watch this movie.

If you've read the book then you probably;y not enjoy the movie to much. I love the books but the movie leaves a lot to be desired. If you had not read the books you would have be able to at least enjoy the movie. I went to see the movie and while I didn't love the movie it was OK. I would suggest waiting for it to come out on DVD.

sure. There are some comical highlights yet i did no longer discover the action picture very humorous. It replaced into particularly crude and vulgar in my opinion and that i do no longer discover that humorous. however the plot replaced into nicely written and the actors nicely chosen for the jobs. regular it wasn't something I enjoyed watching.
