Bonzai Betty; That is not surprising, in a nation like Israel that does not respect life in the first place, by bombing innocent civilians in Lebannon, alledgely running over an elderly woman in a wheelchair with a tank. It's no wonder that Israelis view abortion as "it is not a big deal".

Because liberals want to take rights out of the hands of parents so the Libs can raise our children. They know whats best so I cant blame them. I wish the Libs would take care of me some more. Oh, and L R, there is no draft. Unless they reinstate it, but even back when they had a draft the drinking age was 18. But I say we should leave it up to the Libs, cause they know whats best for us. I see them as a parent, my congressman, my mom, my dad.

that's impossible to respond to this question, as you have already framed it along with your preconceived notions and stereotypes. needless to say, no longer all "liberals" interior the country have an actual opinion bearing directly to parental consent. some "liberals" could help abortion in all circumstances, with out parental consent. Others would help abortion with strict adherence to early termination and parental consent. Your concept that (a) all liberals help abortion and (b) all liberals could ever have the right comparable view on criminal barriers is narrow minded and makes any serious communicate impossible. among the two supporters and fighters, there is no longer one single view on abortion. There are various stages of help, beginning from early term to late term, and from what regulations could govern get admission to and themes like parental consent.

Abortion is practiced in Israel, and its no big deal. So its ridiculous that we try to make it such a big deal here. Better for the girl to have an abortion without her parents knowing, then to be forced to go through with the pregnancy and then give the baby up for adoption by force. Its about choice!

Well, I'll state the obvious.... The same group of people who make laws regarding abortion are not the same group of people who make rules about ear piercing. So, to say that the same group of people is making irrational decisions is an irrational observation.
In regards to underage abortion, it is my understanding that not all teenage girls have a good relationship with their parents and would rather stick a hanger up their vagina then tell their parents that they're pregnant. Making available a non-judgmental, medically safe abortion will both end the unwanted pregnancy and provide little or no injury to the girl's vagina and uterus.

Why is it that people choose selective arguements to make their case, and ignore any other evidence that might prove them wrong?
Parental consent on abortion is decided, nowadays, on a state by state basis. In some states, you DO need parental consent; in others you don't.
As for the social dynamic between a parent and child, she is not the sole exclusive 'property' of her parents. The United States actually said that people could not be property, and thus the question of when a person has 'rights', and to what extent they can be recognized or not, is still being debated. In addition, the question of financial burden is not the sole determinor of what constitutes majority right. If that were true, it would be possiblt for Bill Gates to have the right to decide what the rest of us could do.
And further more, the reason why some states do not require a girl to have parental consent is because, in cases of incestual rape and/or abuse, it would be akin to being forced to ask the person who robbed your house permission to call the police. Taking the responsibility away from the person who bears the greater emotional, physical and psychological cost is robbing them of their right to decide. If you are more than willing to allow someone's right to decide to be taken away, then you should be more than happy to have your right to decide taken away.

Because of the 21st Century Plague of Liberalism. Girls also ae required to have permission to get a shot from the school nurse, and often to go on a school field trip.
I assure you this is part of the liberal, socialist conspiracy to corrupt the values in America, while undermining parental authority by displacing it with bad laws.

The rise of such a situation with our kids coincides with the rise of feminism in this country. Coincidence? I don't think so. Think about it...it's that whole "right to choose" thing all over again. Unfortunately, the right to choose also encompasses the right to be stupid. With some, it's almost as if it's a "green light" to be stupid.

I think the libs think it would shame the girl having to go to her parents about her "mistake"
Some day I hope abortions will go away, becoming uncessary because of education and use of proper protections.
