Bones such as the coccyx cant be reduced and casted. They will heal on their own, by the way of calcium build-up in the crack/fracture of the bone. So no, it wont heal as good as new. It will not heal in a way that causes future problems. It will most likely be a little larger, may have a slightly larger coccyx area a few months down the road due to the calcium build up/healing.

For the first week of so stick with Ice and some anti-inflammatory meds such as Motrin or Aleve. Try to keep as much pressure off your coccyx as possible.

I don't think your coccyx will heal "wrong"; there is no way to make it heal "right", it just heals up. And I know this hurts for a few weeks (yea, I did the same thing!) afterward. However, if you're having pain in your butt cheek, you might have irritated your sciatic nerve in the fall. I'd go see a doctor. Also, I'd be taking anti inflammitories like Motrin or aspirin with food. Warm compresses may also give you some relief. godloveya...hope you feel better; but it will take some time.

Hello Dear =)

That is the typical way in which women break their tail-bones....

More often than healing wrong, it frequently refuses to heal at all, and you have this grinding chunk of bone inside of your butt, that usually has sharp edges........

Unfortunately, this often persists for many years, or sometimes permanently.

A good orthopaedic specialist may be able to help you with this.

Don't waste your money on Chiropractors.. They provide very temporary solutions, by moving bones and cartilage that will simply move back again. Insurance companies don't usually pay for their services because of this.

Happy Holidays, and Namaste,

You may have herniated an intervertebral disc or discs of the spine. This is where there is a tear in the outer disc causing the inner soft part (nucleus pulposus) to bulge and hit the spine. There may have been leakage ( if a herniated disc) from the tear releasing chemicals causing pain. I just had major back surgery so I have some experience with lower back problems. Definitely see a doctor. Do not wait because the longer you wait the more damage may be done (like nerve damage). Your doctor will likely advise you to get an MRI done if your pain is severe and you are aggresive in fixing the problem with your back. Try sleeping in the fetal position if you are having trouble sleeping. See a doctor ASAP. Good luck!

It will heal. It might not seem like it will because of the unbearable pain, but it will.

Give it some time. Ice it. Try laying on your belly to avoid messing with it.

If something goes wrong, it'll probably just take longer to heal.
Don't freak out. Take codein or other pain killers (prescribed, don't abuse... they're addictive) to relieve pain.

Good luck

It is possible. You NEED to go to a chiropractor. He can adjust it so it wont.
