The coming of the great white handkerchief is just a symbolic representation of the coming of a new Messenger of God to that alien race. It is only snotty literalists who expect a literal coming or even a literal sneeze. The handkerchief that cometh shall be the Promised One of all the snotty revelations of the big-nosed past and he shall fulfill all their prophecies of an era of peace and universal nasal cleanliness. It is not a literal end, but a new beginning. Each sneeze is just a new spiritual awakening.

It is a common misconception that it will come sometime in the near future but it's actually in 2142. Shocker I know. I think you are thinking of the Great White Hand Kerchief which is coming in 2012.
