Make sure the outside of your house is clean of any stuff near it. No firewood or "things". Ants love to get under and build colonies under things that do not move. Then they migrate in to be warm or dry or cool depending on which they need.

We are in Florida and have a service for the outside that spray for pests every two months.
We don't have the inside sprayed, I hate to contaminate where we live.

I do have the electronic plug in pest control devices. They are in the same area as sprays.
They create an electric current that runs through the wiring that seriously discourages pests. Ours have been working for years.

Happy Holidays.

You want kids...and a clean house? If the ants have not established a colony, they will leave when ALL traces of sugar are gone. If they have established a nesting colony, talk to an exterminator or get some napalm. Get rid of the ants, kids and house in one shot.

Ants become a nuisance when they enter homes. Instead of spending money on costly pest control, you can get rid of ants by removing the food source and using soap water.
I found the information at http://www.pests.in useful.

a line of chaulk around foundation is supposed to help...also, sprinkle boric acid...(20 mule team borax) you can get it from the supermarket...

if you have red ants...I would be very careful...because red ants eat termintes, and, if this is the case you need to exterminate the termites...
