Yes, I've read Scott Westerfield's series, and I loved it. Making them into movies, however, would be challenging, getting the right people to play the parts, and then change how they look in each movie would be hard. I mean, you'd have to have three Tallys, and three Shays, etc. It might work using the computer, but it would be difficult, and costly, I'd imagine. I don't know if seeing the stories on the screen would ruin my perception of them either. I imagine everything in a way that I am sure is unique to me, and when books are made into movies, sometimes it's hard to get your vision back again. "Uglies", "Pretties", and "Specials" are awesome books, and they are deeper than they seem. They are really all about how society could get if it keeps going the way it is, and yet some people accuse them of being shallow, cheap novels. Maybe a movie would change these negative opinions. Anyway, whether they become films or not, I'd recommend the books to anyone, I simply couldn't put them down!

Yes, they are AMAZING books. Scott Westerfeld is great! The books have been optioned as a movie, and I think could be good if they did it right. There's got to be someone who could play the parts well, I think that it's the script and not getting someone horrible to play them that they would have to worry about. Like, EMMA ROBERTS (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0731075/) has been considered for Tally, and if you've heard her voice you'd see why she would not be right at all.
Whatever happens movie-wise, nothing could ruin the series! The books are all great, and the author's other stuff is too (hint, hint- read it! Ooh, and you can discuss it at www.westerboard.com!

There has been some talk into making them into movies. I'm not sure. Sometimes that ruins books, sometimes it just increases its audience. But regardless I agree with you. They're great books.
