Comedians make so many jokes about it I have to know, what is with the eggs on Easter? What is the point? Does anybody know or is it just a tradition that meaning has been forgotten?

Eggs are a sign of birth or in this case, re-birth. To symbolise the resurection of Christ after His crucifiction

the egg, in ancient indoeuropean cultures, was a symbol of rebirth and renovation, because an egg is a promise of a new life. Like in other things, prmitive Christianity adopted this tradition as a symbol of the resurrection of Christ.

According to historians, eggs are used and even colored because at the time of Jesus(Peace be upon him) alledged death, there was a woman standing as a spectator, holding a basket of eggs. When he was killed his blood splattered on the eggs. This is why Christians do the egg thing and color them even.
