Yes of course. Conservatives like some Liberals are humans too and do make mistakes. The unfortunate thing is that compared to the idiotic things that some of the Liberals do, its hard to realize the conservative blunders are mistakes. How about this one? Ted Kennedy, esteemed Senator, hic from Massachusets in a much publicized speech during the height of the gas prices proposed that we tax the profits of the oil companies MORE so then they would think twice about making so much money and until they learned their lesson, we could put even more money into the federal coffers.
How about lowering the incredible taxes already on gas? Does anyone really think that the oil company or any other company would not simply pass along this new tax to us, the working folk at the pumps? How about a smart idea like reeling in our federal government, something the "conservatives" you speak about, have thus far not been able to do.
What about this conservative idea - using a fair tax system where everyone pays for what they use. You use a bunch, you pay a bunch. You conserve and use a little, you pay a little. No need for income tax or the IRS for that matter or the millions of pages printed for the ever more cunfusing tax code.
AND the governement stays within its checkbook. They don't have the cashflow, they can't spend it either. When you're short on cash, you have to wait and save.
The real problem with your question is there have not been any real conservatives elected as President since Reagan and he even had some questionably moderate policies. Ask again when the country actually votes for a REAL conservative. What we have now are two parties that do basically the same thing but call themselves different names. Good try at trying to blame conservatives though. It really is just the politicians. I believe Jefferson in his thoughts on such believed we should scrap the Constitution every 19 years and fight over it again so we would not forget how important it was and we wouldn't get stuck with career politicians/families - Bush, Clinton, Kennedy, Byrd, etc.

Bush really isn't that much of a conservative. Conservatives are traditionally small government (he isn't), fiscally conservative (ha), and protectionist (not quite). Bush is a neo-con. Many true conservatives are angry with Bush being billed as a conservative.
Having said that, what you are implicating is true of all people; it is often very difficult to admit when one is wrong. This really has little to do with any political party, though, of course, it is understandably amplified when you have a president that has made so many awful decisions, such as Bush.

Members of both parties are lemmings. But at least 20% of Cons disapprove of Bush's job (from gallop polls last month), at the height of Clinton's numerous scandals his ratings near even slide within his party. Public opinion of GOP drop in their issues yet Jackson claims racism and gets status as a victim for putting his bribe money in the freezer.
Does anyone else realize that moderate America will decide who will win the next election NOT Liberals and NOT Conservatives.

certainly, what grew to become into supported grew to become into the regulation. The AIG bonuses have been shriveled and agreed to via congress. The "help" for BP is for this 20 billion dollar fund to be favourite by the two the courts or in the time of the congress, no longer via presidential fiat. As we found out early in this administration, the regulation use a pragmatic gadget which may well be skipped over while inconvenient (how have GM and Chrysler and distinctive banks no longer had to pass by ANY courtroom ordered/monitored financial ruin technique?). And please, we are talking approximately THIS administration, no longer the final one or few. "Bush did it" is previous previous now.

More to the point - can the US ever do anything right with a conservative in power? If the current administration is any indication, the answer is a resounding NO!!!

There's a difference between Conservatism and Facism.
But if you can name ONE politician in the last hundred years that wasn't a spendthrift, I'd be very surprised indeed. It seems like we always choose politicians that are out to rob us blind, regardless of party. The only difference is where they choose to rip us off.
