So as far as I can understand, you are invite to accept Islam and you want to know if I were you what I were doing.

First of all, Its better to check if what he/she is saying is correct? Try reading the literature of Islam from your own sources. But be very careful that the literature you are getting is truly literature of Islam, not something that is in a cover of Islam and telling you its own story.

Also, religious texts are most of the time intellectually complex. So, to read them simply, misguides. Try getting some guidance on what you read. For Quran for example, something named tafseer is the explanation of the verses. One of the best of these is "Tafseer ibn-e-Qaseer".

Judge yourself if the religion you have studied is a better option. Its you who is to decide, not me not someone else. And Islam doesn't tells to force anyone to accept Islam. Take your time and decide yourself.

And a word about the above quoted verses from the Holy Quran. Try reading the context as well as the time of revelation of these verses. This would tell you the real meaning of these verses. Let me give you an example:

If you read a text like: "Hang him", it appears like the speaker is a killer. Now, if you get the whole text, "Hang him, he is the murderer, orders the judge", you would probably change your way of thinking.

And for those who think that Islam has tells that other religions are fake: Arent u doing the same thing? All religion are telling the same thing. But Islam, at least, tells that non-believers cant be forced to Islam; that they may live as they like if they don't kill or threaten Muslims.

I don't think 'having a choice to accept or decline' is the proper way to describe Islam's stance toward non-believers. Please at least be honest when describing your own holy book.

Here are some verses from the Qu'ran in regards to non-believers:

2:191, And slay them wherever ye catch them

2:193, And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression

2:216, Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you

3:28, Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah

4:48 “Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed.”

4:84, Then fight in Allah’s cause - Thou art held responsible only for thyself - and rouse the believers. It may be that Allah will restrain the fury of the Unbelievers; for Allah is the strongest in might and in punishment.
