Given the number of reversals from coaches' challenges, has NFL refereeing been this pathetic throughout history?

Consider this - NFL players get paid millions of dollars per year; the stadiums cost in in the tens of millions the owners spend hundreds of thousands to stage a game. Then they hire any clown with a striped shirt & a whistle, pay him a couple of bucks and put him in charge.

No it is the NFL's FAULT. They told the Refs to let them play and if it is a mistake it will be overturned through a challenge. So instead of the Refs blowing the whistle if there is any chance it could be overturned they let it go.
