Well, Seagate released a new one. It stores up to 750 GB. Thats seriously a lot. The price: Three hundred something dollars.

Choose Seagate, they are USB 2.0, come with software to automatically backup your files for specified folders and they can withstand physical abuse like accidental drops up to 75G's.

I own one and it works flawlessly. There are other dependable brands out there too like WD.

But I recommend SEAGATE because I haven't had a single problem with them in 15 years. Their quality is amazing.

"best" is a very subjective term. there is no best all around hard drive. selecting a hard drive with the proper specifications to optimize your computer or network depends on what the individual user or network requires...
