I've had a bad experience and it's happened again! I've tried water, hot water, cold water, water, and lotion. Is there any other way!?

You might not believe this but WINDEX! I used to work in a jewelry store and it works! Only twice in 3 years did I have to cut a ring off. Give it a try..

Have to add: lots of folks are saying lotions or oils or soap...none of this works on a ring that's really stuck. It just gunks things up. Let your ring alone for an hour or two and then spray the Windex and work the ring off. It really will work. I used this dozens of times on people who thought they'd have to get it cut off or go to the hospital. It sounds unlikely, but it really works better than all the other answers. Doesn't hurt to use ice on the finger to reduce swelling first. Good luck!

2 suggestions...

Soak hand is ice cold water to reduce the swelling. Now lube your finger up with dishsoap, oil, etc. Now twist the ring as you slowly work it up and over the knuckle.

The other thing to try if this doesn't work..

Get yourself some thread 1 or 2 feet should work.

Next lube your finger with soap, oil, etc.

Now take the string and wind it up the length of your finger above the ring to compress the flesh.

Start slowly working the ring up the finger while undoing the string when the ring gets close to it.

A packet of peas from the freezer. Try to wrap it around the finger for a couple of minutes, then use the soap. If you can get some string between it and the finger, loop it and it will give you more leverage. Otherwise call in at your local fire station and they will be only too delighted to help. It will mean cutting the ring.

Vegetable Oil or butter even though it slimy it make the ring slip..... or soap rub it around your finger above and below and as close to the ring as possible then slide it off

First try holding your hand above your head to drain the blood out of your finger.....and if that doesnt work run it under hot water take it out and use windex to get it off

you got it on! Dry, pull the ring as far as you can, work the flesh back towards hand, pull ring as far as it will go and pull the skin back. repeat until the knuckle is cleared. this is a pain full process but you may save the ring. Then again cutting it will keep you from putting it on again!

Liquid soap is really good. Also, next time you're trying on a ring, if it doesn't fit past your knuckle without hurting, then it's probably too tight, and you shouldn't push it anymore. Good luck with the ring!

if yu've already tried to get it off yourself, and it didn't work, i'd suggest going to a doctor. they can cut off the ring, instead of pulling it. it would mean losing your ring, but if it is cutting off your circulation, it is unsafe to keep it on.

WHATEVER YOU DO PLEASE DO NOT TRY HOT OIL!! unless you want third degree burns. I'm sorry to hear about your finger! The ice idea sounds feasable, hope you feel better soon
Merry Christmas
