I know it's sorta freaky - but it's just a natural occurance and the body expects the light to come on. When instead it pops off, it "shocks" the body, causing you to jump!

actual, no. at the same time as the mild bulb burns out it cuts the relationship contained in the bulb. And as a fashion to be utilizing electrical energy you need to have an finished circuit. the mild bulb is an important element of the circuit. I jump at small sounds, and don't blink at really loud ones. It's weird.
A gun could go off and I wouldn't be responsive, but if I hear a small sound my head will jerk.
