When you are ready to shut down your computer, first thing you need to do is close all open and running programs or applications on your desktop. (This will minimize your time needed for shutdown, because your computer will not have to close all of these for you) Next Step is to click on start and at the bottom you will see 2 icons. One says log off and the other says Turn off computer. Click on Turn off computer. At this point a prompt will pop up with the options stand by, turn off and restart. Choose turn off and just wait until your system shuts down. This is the proper method and is recommended. Good Luck!

sign-out if signed into anything(email or homepage) (press f11, if no options are present at the top of your screen)then click file then click exit and do this on all pages internet connected until u are at your desktop picture this means u have left the internet and are at your pc! if u use dial-up end the current connection, then click start click turn off computer, and if a second option panel appears on the screen click turn off pc,and thats it really,it may take a few minutes and then your case or processor tower will go silent, and your monitor will go blank, turn or press the on-off switch at back of the pc to 0 and depress the on-off switch on your monitor and peripherals(speakers/printers)ok
