Well Evelyn its unfortunate that our kids will not be able to grasp many of the concepts that we enjoyed as kids. Thinking back theres a lot of things I enjoyed in my school days that I strongly believed made me the better man I am today.
Whats happening Evelyn is our American values our ideals that all men are created equal and no man should be discriminated against either for race religion or creed. It is that statue that is being used against us and is now stripping away our American values.
What I understand singing carols..stories of jesus' birth or even the mere mention of Merry Christmas is a religous offense to other kids in school whose parents may be of other religous belief. If you take a look at our soldiers when they are sending messages back home on TV pay attention carefully and you'll see they will always say Happy Holidays and never Merry Christmas. Its the same reasons why the pledge of allegiance is being taken out from schools as well as the nations anthem. It is an offense they say to other people to mention or even speak of the likeness of Gods actions or our devotion to him.
I suggest evelyn taking your kids out to the live theatres that portray these stories of Jesus's birth. Sadly they wont be learning of it in school especially if its a public school or government invested.

because christmas is not celebrated by all faiths you jacka@#. if you couldnt come up with that on your own then you dont deserve to even have an education. so teach him the beautiful carols but dont go filling his head with these views that christmas needs to be taught in schools. what the hell do you want our children to be learning about in school, things that matter, science, history, mathematics, or some mythilogical story, that some religions believe. and anyone who says judaism or any other religion should be taught in school is just as bad. by the way, christ wasnt born anywhere even close to december 25. the holiday was originally pagan, and was considered the yule holiday, christians adopted the idea and now somehow it is considered jesus' bday.

If the church and state are separate, why should any organised fairy story get precedence over another ? Your grandson should be learning to read and write since, by the evidence of the correspondence on here, not many Americans do.

They claim it is to keep free from any one religion. What codswallop coming from a self-proclaimed Christian country.
No wonder Americans have so little respect round the world. They can't make up their minds to be fish or fowl. Instead turn up foul!
I agree, no child would forget the magic if they saw the navity scene and learned carols.
In spite of it all, let's be glad for the sanity we have and may I wish you and everyone....
A wickedy Happy Christmas!

t has to do with separation of church and state. When attending public schools you have a whole gamut of religious beliefs to contend with. That should not keep everyone from instilling their beliefs as a family into their children. It is also nice to teach them of other religious/cultures and traditions.

I remember acting out the nativity at school. Good times good times. Is the school that your grandson goes to is an intergrated school? If it isn't, what are they thinking? They wouldn't be offending people of other religions, they believe in Jesus. Although they don't look to Him as the son of God, they do look to Him as a prophet.

Yes,they have been going on in the UK,despite the pc brigade trying to stop it.
What gets me is...the other religeons aren't bothered that we celebrate christmas,I have friends from all different creeds and they all like the story of christs birth and are not in the slightest offended when we celebrate it.
I think its the do-gooders who promote racial ill feeling.

I think that the district is afraid that it will affect the children that don't celebrate Christmas.

It's those perverts at ACLU, and you can ask them at 125 Broad Street, 18th floor, newyork, newyork 10004. I gave them a piece of my mind by sending them a very Christian Christmas card a week or so ago. I hope they get the message since what I did was part of a big campaign originated by American Families Association. Visit their website and you'll enjoy. God Bless you.

Unfortunately,it's the PC brigade at work. These people who are overly concerned with political correctness think putting on a Nativity play is wrong because it may offend the Jewish,or many other religions/cultures out there. All these years we've had Nativity plays-and there was never a problem-but suddenly they think it is now. Sad,huh?
