I adore this movie. It's such a great movie that really emphasizes the importance of family. It really makes me wish I lived back then, when things were simpler and less-commercialized, because this movie displays humanity at its finest.

It's a Wonderful LIfe is indeed a wonderful film. It makes me cry every time I see it.

However, it is not in fact in th public domain. NBC has exclusive television broadcast rights, and Paramount (owned by Viacom) has exclusive home video rights.

What I think is most interesting about the film is that underneath its uplifting message, it's a very dark film. George Bailey has these grand dreams of travelling the world, and he never gets to achieve them. And in the end, evil Mr. Potter gets to keep the money that he essentially stole from George. The FBI considered it a subversive (i.e. communist) film at the time of its release, because it smeares "American values" such as wealth, free enterprise and the profit motive, and glorifies the common man.

I love this movie. Every time I watch it, I tell myself "You have seen this movie so many times-you are NOT going to cry this time!" But in the end, it always gets me and the tears, they come.

Funny thing is that it didn't do all that well when it first came out. I've seen it more time than I can remember. It's been one of my favorites since I was little. Happy Holidays.

Of course, but I bet it was so much better to see when it actually first came out. It kinda paved the way for other movies copying its theme.
