Turkey is not universal for Christmas dinner. At dinner my Italian side of the family eats rabbit. Personally, I stay away from the rabbit and just eat the pasta.

I think it is just a tradition in North America to eat turkey. However, in Europe for example it is different, they prefer roast pork which is in my opinion more tastier, but not necessary healthier.
Have a great Christmas

Apparently for centries we ate Goose or Boar head (nice)...in the 16th century the Turkey was introduced to England.
Because of its size and the fact that its so nice and succulent it fast became an Xmas favourite.

It tastes good. But at our feed it will be Chicken, Turkey, and ham. Quite a large group of family and friends.
Historically it can be traced to the American immigants sending them home.
A spanking mad, wickedly Happy Christmas to one and all!

It's not only a food that most pepole like, it is very economical to feed a crowd with it. It's a lot less work to cook a ham, but more expensive.
