If you have the colleges picked out to send applications, you should request a freshman application package. This will give you everything you need, including the dates, to apply for admission. This will include any essays, specific tests such as the SATs, grades, community service projects, etc. that are required. Strange how you now have to start applying to colleges in your junior year especially if you have a specific school(s) you want to attend.

Take your holiday break to get online and start requesting this information. Most colleges will have this available on their WEB pages. Happy Holidays!

I'll figure you meant 'apply' to college. It all depends on the college. Some colleges will let you apply a couple of days before registration since they are desperate for students; others have a specific deadline that may be up to six months before the fall semester. You can check Peterson guides to colleges, where you can find all colleges listed--unless you are interested in only a couple of colleges, which you can call their admissions office directly.

Most colleges and universities will accept an application at any time of year. Most also have courses that are starting soon after the start of the year. If you hope to attend a less famous college or university, you could feasibly enroll by the start of the next semester (January 2007). You will need to work fast.

Contact the administration office of the college that you are interested in...request a catalog be sent to your address or ask to tour the campus and get a catalog during your visit. They should be able to tell you what documents will be needed for registration...e.g. high school transcripts, ACT scores, SAT scores, other college or post-secondary transcripts if applicable, proof of identification including a photo ID such as a driver's license and social security card numbers.

Depending upon the protocol for the college (each may have their own standards for the most part) unless it is a highly competitive collegiate institution, it may not require an interview prior to acceptance to the university. If they require letters of reference, contact someone whom you trust to speak positively of you and approach them for endorsement.

If accepted, you will need to learn who your advisor is based upon assignment and/or choice of major fields of study. They approve your course selections. Also, apply for federal and state grants six months prior to need of money. Check with banks to determine if they offer student loans. The money is repaid when you quit attending college at a lower interest rate.

Good luck!

It varies from college to college and if you've graduated, although SOME people take college level courses at the same time they take high school courses. Check with the college of your choice regarding requirements, if any, to loop them together. You can call, write, go by, or email them.
