You can get ride off your friends... but you cannot get ride off your relatives.

Your relatives stick around you through the good times and the bad times.
Most friends vanishes when you go through a bad time.

You can have sex with your friends... but not your relatives.

You can marry a friend... but not your relative.

As someone already said
You can choose your friends... but not your relatives.

Some relatives are great and some are the worse.
So lets not generalise.
My experience is that friends are not any better than relatives.

Our relatives usually reside somewhere within our bloodline and Friends usually get along with us so we like to keep them around. Our relatives may or may not get along with us. I once heard the phrase, "Friends are nature's way of apologizing for our relatives."
