The legend says he gave it away. Some versions say that he dropped it in the windows of the poor, giving rise to Santa coming in your house and leaving presents (especially where he still leaves presents at the end of beds). None of it is confirmed, but it's the most popular version. This is one of the items supporting him becoming bishop then a Saint. Merry Christmas!

Saint Nicholas? I'm going out on a limb here but I would say that he spent it giving presents to good little girls and boys on Christmas Eve..

Old Nick (the devil) spent it on a new fork & boosted the central heating for the hellish pit.
