Well, I can't answer that fully, but I can tell you color in nature is usually used for either of three purposes: To attract mates, to warn predators of dangers, or to offer camouflage.
So a lot of male birds are yellow or red, so that they can be visible and attract the female from far away.
A lot of animals blend with their environment: forest lizards and frogs tend to be greenish to brownish, to hide better in the forest. Some animals change color in the winter to blend in the snow, others take on a sandy/rocky color because they live in the desert.
Others, finally warn predators not to mess with them with their colors. That's why wasps are a bright yellow - it tells a predator they'll regret it if they try to make a meal of a wasp.
As for the color purple, it doesn't seem to serve much of a purpose for anything - it's too visible to hide an animal, but not quite bright enough to make a statement.

There actaully is a large blue lizard in Jamaica.
And there were actually purple dinosaurs. It seems that anything in the animal world that stands out too much gets killed and eaten so animals have evolved to blend in to the environment.

I think there are a few---however, I would assume that it would be hard to hide from predators and blend in with a bright purple coat or skin.
