I thought it had something to do with rome??

When the invading army, the Greeks, used the now famous Trojan Horse to sneak some soldiers into the city and open the gates for the rest of their army. The resulting pillaging and burning of the city is what they mean by the "sacking of Troy".

the greeks layed siege to the trojans, but could not penetrate the walls of troy. they offered them a giant wooden horse as a sign of peace, but inside were soldiers who came out at night, and opened the doors to troy, leading to the destruction of the city. ofcourse you know all of this is a myth that takes place in a book written by homer.
