Okay, I know a lot of people are going to want to answer this by telling me to just gain some weight first because it's not that hard. But it is that hard for me. I got pregnant with my first at 112 lbs, I'm 5'9". The pregnancy was rough and I was put on bedrest and steroids.
Now I want to TTC again, problem is I only weigh 105 and my BMI is 17%. My question is when do women become infertile in regards to being underweight. I've tried everything to gain weight, it's just become obvious to me that I will never be less than 20 underweight.

i wasnt quite as underweight as you, but i was 5'5" and weighed 98-100,, in my early twenties and still had to work to keep the weight on up to age 30 ish,,,,, it is hard, especially when your younger, your body does sometimes slow down with age,,,,,,, what worked for me,, was a combination of the following,,,,
take a multivitamin,,,,, exercise moderately every day,,,,,, go easy on the aerobics, go for strecth and small repetitive movements,,,,,, eat three meals a day,,, avoid fast and junk food (while these put weight on some people, it didnt for me),,,, go for basics, a meat with gravy, mashed potatoes,,,,, mac and cheese, and bread, while also having some veggies,,,,,,,,,, start small,, with small servings of each, but do include each in yoru meals,,,,, for snacks, eat bananas,,,,, drink diet supplement drinks (the kind a person would use instead of a meal,,,, use it as a drink, one or two a day, they are high calorie,,, and nutritious),,,,,,,if you drink alchohol at all, drink beer,,,,,,,,
dont go overboard on anything,, accept that you have the type body that is less fat, and a high metabolism,,, while its rough now, keep in mind that in your 40's 50's,,,,, it most likely will pay off!,,,,,,also, if you havent, have your thyroid checked, while it may not be a intial cause of your thiness,,,,,, after giving birth and as you enter your later twenties, a woman can have problems with it, and a high thyroid will only make you lose more,,,,,, as it speeds up everything,,,,,

i did my above suggestions for a couple of years, yes it was slow going,,, a pound or half pound was a major accomplishment,,,,, but it did work,,,,, i fought like crazy to be up to 103 when i got pregnant,, was hoping it stayed on, but off it went again, i was back to 104,,,,,,
so i say, go slow, start small, for your height you do need to gain some weight,,, both for general health, appearance, and ability to be fertile,,,
sorry this is long, but there is so much out there about how to lose, yet not alot about how to gain,,,, your right, just saying eat doesnt work,

Do they have any reasons for you being so underweight? Have you had tests? At 105 and 5'9, I would be trying to take care of myself rather then focusing on TTC right now. You really need to find out the reasons and enter into a serious weight gain program. Your weight should be 130 at a minimum. I'm not sure if you have issues with food, but you need to take better care of yourself. Once you do that, you can better care for your child and start TTC.

I used to know a woman that had the same problem. She was doing everything possible to gain weight and couldn't do it. She had a hard time getting pregnant, and both her babies were preterm. Talk to your doctor about it. Maybe he can help.

The best you can do is try to get some weight but very slowly orelse you may harm your metabolism.Personally I dont think that it is so hard to gain some weight .You should start very softly. If it doesnt work for you visit a doctor
